Service Description
Wednesday 9/3 at 8pm ET A key skill of a genetic counselor is to understand the psychosocial needs of our patients through introspection and the application of skills. GCs require emotional intelligence and mental flexibility to see an issue from many view points so we can support our patients' decisions. It is GC Prep's mission to teach you how to think like a genetic counselor. You've done your prerequisite and have had many other life experiences that have shaped who you are. It is CRITICAL that you are able to define why your experiences have meant so much to you, how you have grown as a person because of them, and are able to consider the merits of an opinion you do not share. In this workshop, two GC coaches will review the basics of how to dig for insight in your experiences with ~20 minutes of content presentation followed by 30 minutes of breakout rooms for group practice and peer critique. Apply what you learn in this workshop to your paper and your interviews!
